About Me
I am currently a fourth year student at the University of Cincinnati pursing a degree in Neurobiology with a Medical Sciences minor. After taking a lot of different science courses, both in high school and at UC, I have discovered my interest in the complex world of the human body, especially how the brain and nervous system operate. I have always been one to ask questions as I seek to understand the world around me and I have found that I am most interested in how our bodies function and what can be done when something goes wrong with them.
Ever since I can remember I have wanted to become a doctor. I grew up watching episode after episode of Grey's Anatomy and playing pretend doctor on every stuffed animal or doll I could get my hands on. I've always had an inner calling to help those less fortunate than me, and my ultimate goal is to obtain a medical degree and be able travel around the world to developing countries and practice medicine. After volunteering in many local schools and medical facilities around Cincinnati I realized my special interest in pediatric medicine and working with children. After completing three years at UC I have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA as well as get involved in a number of different activities. This year I was one of the few Juniors accepted into UC's Phi Beta Kappa Society. I am currently a member of UC's Alpha Epsilon Delta, Bearcat Buddies, and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. I also was an undergraduate research assistant in a lab at Children's Hospital as a part of UC's RAMP and SURF programs. More recently I have volunteered in the Oncology and Hematology unit at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. I am also employed by UC's Learning Assistance Center as an SRS Leader for Applied Calculus and work as a Learning Assistant for freshman Biology. Feel free to get to know me better by taking a look through my learning portfolio as I document my time at UC and my experiences in the University Honors Program! |
